Shruti presented at the 6th Inflammatory Skin Disease Summit, where she delivered a talk on decoding mechanisms of skin inflammation. Her presentation highlighted exciting advances from Yue Xing’s innovative work on early life immunity.

The lab attended the annual retreat for the Precision Immunology Institute at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (PrIISM) and Icahn Genomics Institute on November 21, 2025. Shruti moderated a panel on science advocacy, featuring: Dusan Bogunovic, cofounder of NY-CURES; Marilyn Ness, director of the upcoming film The Endless Frontier; and Susan Rosenthal, VP of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.

We are proud to welcome Troy Anderson! Troy joined the lab in October as a Postdoctoral Fellow, supported by the training program in investigative gastroenterology and hepatology. His postdoctoral work will focus on examining the development and maintenance of fibrosis in inflammatory bowel disease.

Daniel and Kate presented their ongoing work at the Kenneth Rainin Innovations Symposium. Researchers and clinicians involved in IBD research met in Hawai’i to connect and share their findings. Thank you to the Kenneth Rainin Foundation for their investment in funding IBD research and connecting scientists from around the world.

We are proud to welcome Andreas Obers, who joined our lab as a Postdoctoral Fellow in June. Andreas’s work will focus on examining the molecular pathways of cellular–tissue–organismal aging under chronic inflammation, aiming to lay the groundwork for therapies that restore tissue function and extend healthspan.

Dr. Shruti Naik was named an awardee of the Team Science Leadership Scholars Program (LSP) in Women’s Health, Autoimmune and Immune-Mediated Diseases from The Accelerating Medicines Partnership® Autoimmune and Immune-Mediated Diseases (AMP® AIM).
 
Through this program, we will leverage the consortia with diverse knowledge and skill sets to advance our project, “Leveraging Multi-Omics to Decode Cell-Specific Psoriatic Predisposition and Relapse,” with the ultimate goal of advancing the development of treatments for this complex disease.

We are proud to welcome Asma Farhat, who will join our lab as a postdoctoral fellow. Asma has been named a Junior Fellow of the Simons Society of Fellows. With the help of this fellowship, Asma will investigate how early-life inflammation affects the specification and function of skin-innervating sensory neurons.

Piotr gave an early career investigator Keynote talk at the GRS on “Immune-Epithelial Crosstalk in Tissue Adaptation and Maladaptation”.
